I have been feeling quite burnt out lately with never ever ending work, family and church commitments coming my way non stop. At some point, I felt really exhausted with the many things that constantly strive for my attention, time and energy, as pressure presses down on me.

And I thank God for His Word that always brings comfort and encouragement to me – “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30. God will not give us what we cannot bear, and He will always provide abundantly in His ways as we seek Him.

This does not mean my commitments disappear into thin air miraculously, making me carefree and problems-free at once. But it gives me strength to press on, experiencing God’s peace and joy as I battle through each busy day. These burdens will not feel as heavy as before because I am not carrying them alone; but God carries these burdens together with me. God is so good, He is so good to me, and you.

I hope this little sharing blesses you in whatever you’re going through right now. I am continuously learning to find rest in God’s word and not in the things of the world (entertainment, shopping, money…).

DIO(R)EVOLUTION is what I have been busy with on top of many other work matters. Half a year ago, Dior announced its new and first ever female Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, whom has presented a very new look of Dior; young, fresh and cool are the 3 words I would describe her vision of Dior and femininity.

In celebration of this new look, Maria has selected Singapore to be one of the few cities in the world to conduct an exclusive Pop-up store to showcase this brand new Spring Summer 2017 collection. In addition, the Dior boutique in ION mall has been transformed to complement this collection. There are an array of gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous Ready to Wear, beautiful and interesting bags, shoes and accessories. (I want them all please!)

If you’re in town, do visit the Pop-up store and Dior boutique as it is not everyday Dior has such an animation. Only available for 2 weeks (it is less than 2 weeks by now), so go and visit!

Talk about sweet surprise, here’s sending the very lovely and talented fashion illustrator, Grace Ciao a big THANK YOU for drawing a personalised illustration of myself along with sending this box of pretty flowers by Fleuriste. What a sweet way to chase my Monday blues away! Especially when my eyes were feeling quite sore from staring at excel sheets and numbers for the entire day, and also because I slept late the night before watching a Korean drama. Grace does extremely beautiful illustrations and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her for an event last year.

In celebration of Christmas and New Year in the last 3 weeks, I’m blessed to receive many other little gifts from my current and ex colleagues. Amidst the rat race at work, these little surprises really makes my day. So thanks for the love dear friends!

This sounds a little vain, but I can’t stop stealing glances at myself (in illustrated form) and the box of blooms time to time in between all the excels, emails and documents.

In exactly a week, we welcome the new year but before 2016 ends, I thought I better update this space a little. Firstly, I apologise on the unintended hiatus, because work, other commitments and falling sick in between had been taking a toll on me.

2016 went by in a blink, flash, wink…whatever you call it, I think you can attest that time leaves no man behind. Too fast sometimes that I find myself hard to catch up with it. It has been one of my busiest year; which made me realise how hard balancing work and life actually is (Sobs, #lifeofagrownup). Many times it really is not within my control because of the sheer amount of work on my plate. Like seriously, work never ever gets any lesser?! But on hindsight, I found myself growing a little tougher than before through pushing myself to a certain limit mentally and emotionally.

I ended 2015 with 3 goals, and now I add 2 more to the list:

1. Spend time with God everyday
To be honest, this is still a spiritual challenge for me to sink in as something I yearn to do everyday. It is easy for me to cite “busy-ness” as the reason, but frankly speaking, if I minimise the amount of time I spend on scrolling through Instagram and Facebook feed daily, I would have a lot more time to spend it with God and many other more important matters instead. This is definitely something I have to continue to achieve in 2017 onwards.

2. Maintain a regular fitness lifestyle
Some improvements in this, finally! While it is not that regular yet, I took up yoga and began running again this year – better than not doing anything I guess! My hope for 2017 is to maintain consistent weekly workouts.

3. Watch my diet
This was going quite consistent in the first quarter, until I kind of decided to give myself a break for the next 9 months of the year from clean eating because I just love food too much too be eating cleanly almost every other day. Definitely bringing this forward to 2017 too.

4. Work-Life Balance
Since identifying this as one of my my main work life issue, I want to challenge myself to strike that balance no matter the amount of work I have. Not sure how this will work out, but we’ll see.

5. Contentment & Simplicity
I have let loose on it this year and allowed myself to clutter my life with things I do not actually need. I hope to attain a simpler and slower lifestyle than before by re-focusing Christ in my life.

I believe 2017 will continue to be a challenging one but I am excited to see how God will mould me to become in the new year ahead.
Blessed Christmas and looking forward to 2017!

As I turned another year older, I cannot help but reinstate again and again how fast time flies. It felt not too long ago that I just celebrated my birthday on October 20 last year, and we’ve quickly caught up with the same day again this year. I am extremely thankful to be able to celebrate the week in the company of my love ones, church friends and colleagues. These visuals that I have put together pretty much encapsulate my birthday week.

It began with a surprise red velvet cake (still missing my 2014 birthday red velvet cake from The Dispensary, which has now closed its door for unknown reason #heartbroken), lunch and desserts with my fellow Diorettes in a Parisian-esque boutique cafe Antoinette, hearty juicy Korean bbq meat with the best company, waking up to fresh beautiful blue hydrangeas, baby’s breath and pink roses, healthy lunch alone at Poke Theory (note: it’s pronounced as po-keh), got my frizzy hair undergone some treatment, and finally had my first Hai Di Lao experience, and it was so good. The HDL staffs even sang me a birthday song in the crowded restaurant. The bulk of the day, I was glued to my phone replying every birthday messages on whatsapp and facebook. Thank you dear family and friends for your well wishes and kind words!

I have come to experience that birthdays are not just about cakes, receiving gifts or throwing a party. But to be thankful to God, family and the ones around you who love you. To spend quality time together doing things you enjoy (like eating non stop), because these are what really matters more.
